Corporate Portrait Photography in Brisbane: How We Nailed a Brand Shoot in a Lunch Break

Busy professionals rarely have half a day to spare for a photo shoot. When Alex, founder of Taylor Property Collective, needed a full set of brand portraits for his new website, the window we had to work with was his lunch break.

That's not a problem. It just means the real work happens before anyone picks up a camera.

Planning is where the shoot is won

A short shoot only works if every minute is accounted for. Before the day, we locked in:

  • The shot list. I was also building Alex's website, so I knew exactly which images it needed: a vertical hero portrait, wide landscape images for banner sections, candid working shots and a warm, direct portrait for the contact page. No guessing, no wasted frames.

  • The locations. We picked a small number of spots in Brisbane's CBD, close together, so we could move between them in minutes rather than lose time travelling.

  • The light. Midday sun is harsh, so I scouted for open shade and reflective surfaces that would give soft, flattering light at that time of day.

  • Wardrobe. We agreed on outfits ahead of time that suited the brand: professional and approachable, nothing that would date quickly.

  • The story. Alex's business is built on one promise: you deal directly with him. So the phone became a visual thread through the shoot, showing someone who answers his own calls.

On the day: quick, easy and relaxed

Because the planning was done, the shoot itself was straightforward. We knew where we were going, what we needed at each spot, and when to move on.

That structure also helped Alex relax. Many people feel awkward in front of the camera, and a long, drawn-out shoot only makes it worse. A focused session with clear direction means less standing around, more natural expressions and better photos.

We worked through the formal portraits first while energy was high, then moved into candid shots of Alex on the phone around the city. Those candid frames ended up being some of the strongest images in the set.

The result

Alex was back at his desk within his lunch break, and walked away with a complete library of brand images ready for his website and LinkedIn.

Short on time? That's fine

If you're a lawyer, accountant or business owner in Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast, you don't need to clear your day for professional portraits. With the right planning, a short window is all it takes.
